The Loose Ring Snaffle mouthpiece attaches to free sliding rings so that it follows the angle of the tongue. This is desirable because the angle of the poll changes throughout the ride. If the horse tries to "take a hold" of the bit, it will rotate on the rings, making it difficult for the horse to grab the bit and evade the rider. You will want to check around horses lips after riding because they can get pinched where the mouthpiece meets the rings. Use of bit guards helps prevent pinching.
