The gag action of this bit does not press the mouthpiece down onto the tongue as some others, it maintains a steady same pressure on the tongue. The mouth piece is sweet iron to promote salivation helping the bit to slide and move easier rather than dragging. This bit is intended to be used by skilled riders with mature trained horses to train the horse to be come lighter and more responsive. In the wrong hands it will do the opposite.
