The slight gag action gives the horse time to respond to lighter pressure before being bumped with full blown cue. Twisted wire mouth piece is sweet iron to induce salivation, helping to keep the horses mouth light and sensative. The larger rein loops also enable the horse to feel the pressure coming and respond quicker, teaching the horse to stay light. A general all around bit for seasoned horse or those far enough along in their training to understand curb and shank action vs a traditional snaffle.
