Tim Bourke, Advanced Level Eventer: Horse Quencher Ambassador

Intrepid International and Horse Quencher welcome Tim and Marley Bourke from Bourke Eventing. Tim and his team are avid users of Horse Quencher and simply won’t travel without it.

“With horses, training and competing requires many miles on the road, and hydration is key to the horses arriving fresh and ready to compete. For years, Bourke Eventing has relied on Horse Quencher to keep our horses drinking during countless hours in the trailer and Bourke Eventing is thrilled to become a member of the Horse Quencher team”- Tim and Marley Bourke

Growing up in Westport Co. Mayo, Ireland, Tim inherited his love for horses from his grandmother and spent his early childhood days developing his riding skills at her riding school, Knappa Beg Stables. Although the business was sold when Tim was twelve years old, the riding tradition continued within his family, as Tim’s mother, Fiona, began a small boarding barn at the house, which she runs to this day. Tim joined the Clew Bay Pony Club, reaching his A-rating, and attended Gurteen Agricultural College. During his years at Gurteen, Tim worked and rode young horses for John Craig, who has since played an integral part of Tim’s riding career in Ireland and the United States. Upon graduation, Tim was looking for a job and career direction and through mutual friends found himself on a plane headed stateside to the legendary Bruce Davidson’s farm. While originally on a three month holiday visa, Tim ended up staying and working for Bruce for two years and credits Bruce for starting him on the path for establishing a life in the United States. Under Bruce’s guidance and support, Tim learned the inner workings of producing event horses to the top level of eventing and got a true taste for eventing in the states. In traveling to the biggest competitions with Bruce, including Rolex Kentucky, Tim realized this is where he wanted to be! When Tim ‘s visa ran out, Tim and Marley headed to Ireland for the year knowing they would return to America, which proved to be pivotal moment for Tim. In Ireland, Tim worked riding show jumpers for Jonathan Reape, during which time, Tim broke his soon to be top horse, Luckaun Quality. Recognizing the obsession Tim had with the rangy gelding, the Reapes’ graciously enabled Tim to bring him back to the states with him. Upon returning to America, Tim landed a job as assistant trainer to top eventer Sharon White.   In his six years working for Sharon, Tim got the opportunity to ride and compete all the sales horses and develop a student base. Through Sharon’s belief and encouragement of Tim, Tim has established himself as a top rider and trainer. Tim was named to the Irish High Performance list and is looking forward to the development and future success of Bourke Eventing.

Welcome to the family, Tim and Marley. We are so excited to help you accomplish your goals and to ensure your horses stay hydrated, healthy and happy!
