No Faults Fashion Trends

For the 2016 competition season, USEA members were greeted with new rules for show ring fashion. The USEF Rules for Eventing and General Rulebook were updated to reflect a turn towards a more traditional aesthetic for all 3 phases, specifically noting conservative color palettes (read the complete overview here.) But over the weekend’s Carolina International CIC & Horse Trial, eventers were feeling anything but limited by the new dress code. Competitors were looking fresh for the season in all 3 rings while staying true to their personal styles.
The best way to honor your unique style, while complimenting your horse, and playing by the rules is to focus on the details. Look for special accent pieces to accessorize with. Four-star level rider, Allie Knowles, shared her lucky sock tradition with us, sporting a pair on stadium day that feature an epic show down between a unicorn and a narwhale. Knowles and her groom have matching pairs in several eccentric patterns, each destined to bring luck on specific competition days.
To incorporate your cross country colors into your looks for dressage and stadium, add subtle pops of color married with clean lines. A tucked in shirt with a fantastic belt are essential for the perfect riding outfit of the day (#ROOTD), whether you’re schooling or trying to impress the judge. Belts can add a hint of color or extra sparkle without overwhelming the look. Topping it off with a jacket that features a contrasting collar or lining can really set you apart in a sea of navy and black.
Tradition is nothing new to the equestrian world but neither are luxurious details or tailored fits. 2KGrey offers several options in breeches, jackets, and belts that express your true style whether it’s the blinged out diva or the edgy risk-taker (or somewhere in between), taking traditional show gear to a new level. Their fresh whites feature light-colored designs embroidered on the back pockets with metallic thread and crystal accents. The show coat options are both styled to perfection, playing up high-end fashion influences on traditional equestrian apparel. Add one of the 2KGrey belts for a bit of sparkle or pop of Spring color, and you’ll be on your way to scoring a killer show ring look – free of faults and fashion faux pas.
